Former 7th Heaven star Barry Watson is set to join Gossip Girl’s final season playing the role of none other than Serena Van der Woodsen’s love interest.

The actor will play the role of Steven Spence, who is described as a young entrepreneur who is going to have his eye on Blake Lively’s character.

The role of Steven Spence will have a multi-episode appearance and will probably culminate in a romantic ending for Serena. There have been earlier rumors that the final episodes of Gossip Girl season 6 will lead up to another character getting married. Speculations are that it will be Chuck and Blair, but don’t be surprised if Serena will also tie the knot in the final episodes.

Barry Watson is a veteran of many TV shows, including the long-running 7th Heaven, where he practically grew from being a teenager into an adult, along with co-star Jessical Biel. He was also in the series “What About Brian” and “Samantha Who?”. The actor is already in his late 30′s. He joins a host of other guest stars in the finale of this show.

Gossip Girl will begin airing on October 8th.
