It seems Gossip Girl coming back for a sixth and possibly a final season is no longer in question. The show is looking to be renewed by The CW for another year and those who have been following the series from the beginning would be glad to know that they will be able to wrap up every storyline and character and give this show its proper ending.
But, there are some hitches. The producer of the series has revealed that some contract negotiations may change the fate of other characters, as the actors playing them may demand for a change in their status.
Early last year, Ed Westwick was rumored to want out of the show, saying that he is no longer challenged by the character he plays. Chuck Bass has evolved from resident playboy to a love-sick guy, that it was no longer interesting for Westwick.
According to the producer, as far as he knows, everyone will be renewing their contract. The question remains, however, is what capacity will these actors be returning to, given that, aside from Westwick, the rest of them sees to be ready to move on and embark on solo careers.
In this case, even with all the actors coming back we may get a different feel of Gossip Girl in the next season.
