It’s uncanny how real life sort of mirrors life on television.

Kelly Rutherford, who plays Lily Van Der Woodsen on Gossip Girl, had made use of a private investigator in many ways on the show. The latest one was to track down her niece, Charlie. In real life, the actress also hired one…so that he can follow her ex-husban Daniel Giersch in April of 2010.

Now, the private investigator is claiming that the actress still owes him payment for his services.

Edward Banach claims that he only got paid at least a fourth of what they have agreed upon. Ms. Rutherford hired him to follow up on her case involving child custody and some other matter.

Kelly Rutherford and her former husband apparently divorced after a short marriage. The guy had a reputation for being nasty, and have filed restraining orders and child custody claims after their bitter parting. The actress said that she hired Mr. Banach for the purpose of protecting her son. She said that she had her ex-husband followed because she was concerned about her son’s safety while he is with him.

Lily Van Der Woodsen cannot afford to be in a mess like this and will most likely pay up even before the man started investigating. The actress probably had her reasons for not paying up, but this is just really sad to learn.
