In the last few episodes of Gossip Girl, Dan Humphrey was given a change to hang out with many famous authors for a summer in Rome. It’s a change in a lifetime, considering, Dan has been experiencing writer’s block and needs to get inspired to write again.

But then, Dan decides to forego this and stay in New York for the summer, since there’s this matter between him and his friends, Blair and Chuck that needs to be settled and iron out. Dan, maybe feeling threatened by this, thought it would be best to stick around and keep an eye on things. After all, Blair is his girl now. And Chuck, while one of his best friends, is still a major threat to the relationship.

Blair finding out that Dan decided to stay made her furious. She wanted Dan to go to Rome and experience being with all those famous authors and learn from them.

This really says so much about the status of their relationship. Dan can never replace Chuck in the heart of Blair, even though she also loves him.

Should Dan have gone to Europe and let the natural flow of things happen?
