Gossip Girl: Why is Serena Like A Secondary Character Now?

I am pretty sure I’m not the only one who thinks Serena’s character on Gossip Girl went from being the main character to the secondary or supporting character. And it’s easy to explain why that is. There’s nothing remotely interesting about Serena now that she has started working and she doesn’t seem to have a boyfriend to go crazy over.

Party girl Serena has started to have priorities and is more concerned about the work that she does…which is probably a sign of maturity, but for the sake of her storyline in the series, there’s little material to work with here.

So the writers bring back this feelings of love she’s been having for Dan lately. What perfect timing it is to reconnect with Dan as a way to cover up for Blair. They agree to go with this fake relationship to save Blair from further hurting the two people who matter to her (Chuck and Louis).

But the thing is, Serena’s obviously more into this fake relationship than Dan. And as well know, Dan’s been wanting to get together with Blair and is even ready to profess his love for her. If Dan doesn’t see Serena the same way he did in the first few seasons, then surely, the girl is bound for another heartbreak because of Dan.

And at this point, she’s been there, done that…why else would they want to rekindle this?

No, nothing illegal about that, they don’t have the same blood. Only they share a stepbrother but that doesn’t make them brother and sister.

Serena is a secondary character because she is a rather boring person… Always has been, and always will be.

I can easily see the reason why S has turned into secondary character. She and Dan are seperated from each other for far too long and being mature isn’t like her in the end! Contrary, Blair is the main character due to the most amazing and twisting love story ever that she shares with Chuck. Hence, Chuck is the basic boy figure in the show, comparing to Dan and, duh, Nate.
Gossip Girl Is Awesome

I agree completely! Serena is actually one of my fav characters and I want her to have a better storyline, something better then Dan (Sorry Dan lovers)… My opinion, Serena is not annoying or boring. She’s pretty awesome, everyone has a boring storyline at one point. This is prob her point.
