Sadly, Blake Lively couldn’t attend the Met Gala, she was too busy being in love with Ryan Reynolds in Canada. However, Leighton attended and not just in any ordinary frock but in a beautiful gold embroidered Marchesa illusion dress with a tiered tulle skirt, which she paired with Harry Winston jewels and Tabitha Simmons heels. Chace Crawford and Ed Westwick were also spotted at the Gala, however, we are going to focus on Leighton.
Marchesa creates some of the most fabulous and stunning gowns and I am absolutely obsessed with the label. All their gowns have an etherial touch and create a feeling of lightness and each gown is dipped in a pastel like color, embroidered and perfectly cut. This is a perfect match for Leighton, it’s a relatively light color but with the slight tan she has it still stands out. The golden silhouette is very body contouring and it has cap sleeves and a low neckline to bring out all her feminine features. To make it voluptuous, the designers added layers of tulle to the skirt to make it look almost cupcake like, but at the same time keep it elegant and expensive looking. The dress is decked out in floral embroidery adding more texture and enriching the gown. The jewels are kept simple to not take away from the dress. The gown is grand on its own so if adding tons of jewelry it would be too much. She wore two bracelets and a ring both designed by the most valued jewelry company, Harry Winston. The clutch and shoes are both golden, ergo matching the dress perfectly.
Lastly, hair and make-up. Her hair makes a perfect contrast to the dress, the dark with the light. They teased it to create volume and then styled it into a bun. Her make-up is kept rich and heavily based on dark colors. A dark red/purple lip and a bronze/brown smokey eye. Absolutely stunning!
