Taylor Momsen: Anyone else miss the innocent Taylor?

Hey Guys!

This has been an ongoing debate for more than a year about how people should stop criticizing Taylor Momsen for her actions.

Personally, I used to just be half/half about her. But now, she has begun to annoy me because of her actions. I think that her actions can sometimes come accross as rude and self centered and I think the clothing she wears is too provocative for her age group…
I know she is performing in this photo but she is seen out and about in these clothes as well.

This is not the first time she has done controversial things to spike the media. She commented about the Haiti natural disaster which cause quite an uproar, as well as saying that she has her own knife collection.

Plus, please keep in mind that she is only 16 and illegally smoking. Does anybody miss the young Taylor? She seemed so much…nicer

I like how she doesn’t take bull from anyone and obviously doesn’t listen to the media.
Okay sure, she dresses a bit trashy, but seriously whatever. It’s her choice and I think people are way too judgemental about her. If she wants to dress like that, who really cares, she can if she wants to.
I’ve always liked Taylor. I like how she just doesn’t care about what other’s think.
And she’s smoked for a long time, before she was “trashy”. There’s pictures of her from 2008 smoking. Again, her choice. It doesn’t effect any of us.
I still like Taylor.

I think she was never “innocent”. She dressed all girly-pretty when she was first getting famous, because SHE’S GETTING FAMOUS. You don’t want to be known as trashy straight off the bat, and earn haters early on. You want to develop your image first. Then when you have a bajillion bucks you can do whatever the fuck you want. Smoke, look like a stripper, anything. The real Taylor’s jsut coming out of her shell.

taylor has her own prerogative and its someone’s choice if they want to look up to someone but i think the ‘old’ taylor looks like a completely different person if anyone didnt know her they would probaly think so.

Do you really think you can say that she’s a whore? You don’t know her. You know nothing about her. I am really disappointed that anyone would make a comment like that about anyone.
And also, Jenny is a big part of Gossip Girl. And Jenny is JUST a character. Who Taylor Momsen portrays on screen does not say who she is. From watching interview-even recently she seems very sweet. But she’s a teenager. She’s moody and she’s outrageous. I think she could look a lot more “slutty” even though that’s definitely not what I’d call it.

just because she’s a teenager doesn’t excuse her from smoking, dressing like a whore and being a complete bitch – yeah, i don’t know her, but that’s the way she’s portraying herself. she always goes on about how she doesn’t want to be a role model, but i bet that she fought damn hard to get into this industry, or at least went to auditions and chose this particular path in life knowing the consequences behind being a successful actress. she’s such an attention seeker, saying that she can do what she wants and if that includes smoking then that’s her choice, but doing that on stage in a live performance rather than in private shows the reasons behind this habit. isn’t it funny how she’s younger than miley cyrus, dresses FAR worse, smokes and says some unbelievably insensitive things, but when she does this it’s called artistic or ‘her choice’, but if miley cyrus did it there would be an outrage?

She dresses far too provocatively, therefore projecting the image that she doesn’t respect herself. It is very bothersome to me that she smokes at live performances, considering it is illegal for those under 18. If she’s going to smoke in private, fine, but she shouldn’t be smoking for the sole use of public display with so many young fans watching.

Remember little Cindy Lou? Taylor’s come a long way since then. She’s been exposed to so many things. On GG she has a broken family, was bullied and tormented seasons 1-2, sexually assaulted TWICE, ran away from home, dated a drug dealer (and helped him) and got banished to Brooklyn. Of course she’s not “sweet” anymore. So I wish haters would stfu, AHEM MEDIA. There’s more important things to tell about than what T. Mom is wearing.

I think people overreact a little.. Sure, this last year, Taylor has gone from bad to worse, but she’s 16! She has grown in front of a camera, and now, she’s just having her “teen crisis” like everyone else.. And we all know that when that happens, you want to be on the spotlight all the time, so she exaggerates things a little bit.
I’m sure that in a while, she will be more calm, people just have to give her a break…

I think that she is old enough to chose what she wears and how she acts. She is well known for her role on Gossip Girl, and singing in The Pretty Reckless, neither of them are aimed toward kid audiences, mostly teens and adults, so I feel like her behavior in public is perfectly acceptable. The people who care about how she acts are old enough not to be influenced.

She can make her own choices, but what really bothers me is not that she smokes, but that she chose to smoke during a performance (while she is underage).

For some reason, I didn’t like her from the very first second I saw her.. there was just something about her which made me feel, “This girl cannot be upto anything good” n guess my instincts were right.. i don’t usually make such opinions about people, but even when she was fresh faced and more decent.. she had signs of desperacy in her..
n yes, i think she is truly desperate.. she wants people to look at her and call her a slut.. nobody would dress that way if they didn’t want attention.. I’m glad they removed her from GG.. GG is a scandalous show, but even that show can do without her…

Honestly, how many 16 year olds out there smoke? How many kids in middle school smoke? It’s not that unbelievable. She shouldn’t be judged when no one really knows her. I think the way she dresses is gorgeous. I would never call her trashy. We haven’t seen any privates yet, have we? Let her be her.

i think she saw when image of herself in those past episodes of GG, where she was a mirror imagine that of this photo. anyways she realized her “off the edge” and “excitingly rebellious” was in fact quite adventerous and so she relived it as her now

i can tolerate what she’s doing/wearing. She’s friggin 16. Every 16 year old thinks they got it all figured out, esp Taylor since she’s making her own money now.

but i would take her band more seriously if it wasn’t for Taylor’s wardrobe and smoking thats pretty much stealing the attention from her band and music.

Ok, a lot of 16 year old smoke, but she did it while performing: she probably believes that she can do whatever she wants, but the truth is that lots of young girls look up to her. Maybe she doesn’t want to be a role model, but she just had to think about it before, because being a role model comes with the job of actress/singer. When you decide to have a public live, you have to think about the consequences that your actions may have.
Many young girls might now think smoking is cool because of her. She is a bad example.

PS: Have you noticed that she started dressin like a w…. at the same time that Jenny had her crisis and started wearink rock-style clothes?

i think her actions do come across as very self centered and although i respect her as an artist, sometimes i don’t understand the choices she makes.

btw, i have to say that i hate the heels. they say tips on them and have a slot for dollars to be put in them – so trashy!

I love Taylor both ways. People often forget that she’s 16 growing up with 20+ year olds. This is a phase I think. I’m sure she’ll never be cutie pie, but she’s tone this down. It comes with age.

I totally loved the old Taylor. She really looks like a very friendly and outgoing girl and I think she;s very pretty.
But if you look at the way Taylor acts nowadays. :O
Í guess she’s a bit out of control. I mean, look at her stockings and her shoes ( and of course her clothes ). It’s not the way a sixteen years old should be dressed like!
I hope Taylor will soon see what she has become, and that she will just return to what she once was.
