Upper East Siders, Vanessa Abrams is hated. Everyone goes crazy about her getting to be with all the Gossip Girl boys (Dan, Chuck, Nate — everyone but Serena’s gay little brother so far!) and maybe it has to do with jealousy? She seems more ‘grounded’ than the other characters on the show – but their rich and wild lives is what makes the show so fun.

Poor Jessica Szohr! It must be hard playing a character that everyone hates. It must get lonely to be surrounded by all that rage. But that got me thinking..how hated is she? Write a comment if you love or hate Vanessa Abrams. Here Jessica Szohr tries on clothes Tuesday at a French Connection store in New York this weekend…

I agree Jessica she definately is the one with morals. She came back partly to see Dan because he was her best friend and someone she was in love with. How is that steal him from Serena? She didn’t know they were dating besides she didn’t try to steal him once she learned that.

For Nate he was not dating Blair then but instead having an affair with a creepy woman. How is that wrong? Did you like that awful lady cause I didn’t. So Nate in one sense was worse than Vanessa since he was “dating” two people at once.

And yeah um I felt so sorry for her when Nate kissed Jenny. It was pretty much be like your ex-boyfriend kissing your little sister since I am guessing Vanessa and Jenny were close like that.

Yeah she’s different from everyone else and I really hope she gets a nice boyfriend who won’t be mean to her.

I don’t like her and I really don’t see any proof of the high morals mentioned above. Her character is really pointless… she is the total outsider that hooks up with everyone that even speaks to her. She is actually a little wh”!*. In the begging she puts on that little show of why she’s better then Serena, then she crashes the masked ball, then she crashes Blair’s birthday party (Blair should have totally kicked her out), she ruins things for Natealthough she had only spoken to Blair the night before so I don’t get why she was son anxious and furious that early next morning Nate wasn’t free from Catherine, guess V had an itch and needed someone to scratch it. And I don’t see any high morals when she blackmails Blair, because it isn’t blackmail to make her a nicer person, it’s just selfishness. I agree with the comment above. Okay if she wanted to be herself or whatever, then she should just be so. But she just over justifies the fact that she’s not with that crowd and then tries to shove it in their face with her interfering or whatever the hell it is she does. She needs to butt out, she’s so irritating when she meddles with everyone’s problems. Why doesn’t she try to be adjusting to this new group she tries to befriend, instead of attacking them all of a suddenly and just judging them because they’re spoiled brats. ok V has given constant advise to dan, helped out J, and S. she tried to fix nate’s prob. but he kinda screwed her over. and she even trusted in chuck. she is not in everyones bussiness she’s trying to help. something no one else on this show does but occasionally Sarena.
****The obvious reason that V is so hated is because their is a mutual hatred between B and V. and seeing as how blair is most peoples favorite character its only natural that they all hate V because they love B.

Vanessa reminds me of Simone from Heroes. Just there to be bring a little racial diversity but not much else.

I’m actually more interested in the old people love going on between Rufus and Lily than her and that’s saying something since I usually think the inclusion of elderly love in teen shows is tacky.

She kind of does have better morals than everyone else in the show, and no one trashes them for it. All she really did was hide that letter from Jenny, which really, I think a lot of people would do if the guy they were like in love with was macking on your almost-little-sister. And the whole blackmailing Blair thing? Like she didn’t deserve. Please. Blair has done a lot worse. She had sex with her ex-boyfriend’s best friend in the back of a limo. Serena almost made a sex tape and was involved in the death of someone. Chuck – well, he’s Chuck Bass. Nate had an affair with an older woman for money, and cheated on his girlfriend. So yeah, I think Vanessa has better morals than everyone else.
Also, saying you hate her because she’s boring? A little pathetic. Saying you hate her because she’s a peasant? What the hell are you guys? Stoned? I’m sure most of the viewers don’t live luxury lives of glamour and glitz, so shut up. And the whole she-judged-Nate thing. No offense, but the way these kids lived, I would probably judge them too. When you grow up poor, you learn to judge most rich people, and most of them do nothing to negate the sterotype, rather they live in it. Plus, with Blair/Chuck treating her like trash, what the hell do you expect? For her to be all peachy to everyone?

Vanessa is so full of herself. When she’s not being annoying, she’s just boring. Srly, her character should either change drastically into some sort supporting bff for Dan and not try to stick her nose into things not at all related to her or should be killed off from the show. It really pains me having to watch Vanessa, I usually just skip it. The episode where she took Nate’s letter for Jenny and then get humiliated, I thought Jenny was being totally awesome and V got it coming. And then she turned around, tearily admitted it and got the guy while Jenny get looked at as a bitch. Talking about it gives me urge the slap Vanessa’s head off and smack Nate’s too. Ugggghhh.

She is hated for a very good reason. Its not jelousy, Blair has been with Chuck and Nate and she is the most popular girl charcter (and I’m pretty sure tied fav overal with chuck) Its the fact that she is irrelevent, she has no purpose. We have enough people from Brooklyn, we dont need her. She is annoying becuase she hates all rich kids, and then makes out she doesnt discriminate, and is a ‘nice person’. I just hate her, and i am entitled to my own opinion, mine is: she is irrelevent, fake (pretends she is innocent), annoying!!!, boring and has no development. Not to mention, the chick who plays her, cant really act!

You idiots, it’s the whole package you can’t just say she needs to go or else the show will end up like a fairy tale. The fact that you’re still glued to the show proves that her V’s character is an important part in the mix. Anybody with half a brain with complete honesty knows that. I so hate her. She looked like a jungle freak in the first season and now she has a new upper east side style and everything but she STILL doesn’t fit. She is incredibly rude and full of herself. Nobody buys her tree hugger hippie attitude, she’s just like everybody else. Blair is mean too, but at least she can be funny and adorable sometimes. Vanessa doesn’t even have that.

“Jungle freak?” Really? How racist is that? Africans are one of the hardest working races in the world, and they have to put up with a lot of crap; besides the point, Jessica Szohr is half white and half black. She is gorgeous, and I like that she doesn’t put 90 different kinds of chemicals through her hair to make it what you people consider beautiful. Accepting yourself, validity in yourself, is what is important – not what others think.

Everyone on the show is rude and full of theirselves. Blair is clearly the biggest bitch on the show, coniving, manipulative, rude, back-stabbing, and she’s one of the plainest-looking people on the set. The only reason she is given a second glance is because of her skin tone. If she was darker, and her hair was frizzier, I’m sure you people would be all over how terrible her character is, et cetera. Maybe then, she’d be the ‘jungle freak’. I don’t find Blair funny OR adorable. I think that the kind of person she is outweights any redeeming qualities.

People who perhaps plan on going into film-making and cinema later in their lives? People who have a passion for the arts, and are talented in them? Not everyone is loaded (like the rest of the characters) and yes, people do odd things to make money. While I was in college (full scholarship) I painted the houses of other people for – yes – money, to buy clothing.

Clearly she is a loser because you say she is, after all, everything you say is fact.

I really couldn’t care less about anyone hating the character, I’m not too fond of her. I just hate the double standards, the hypocrisy of it all. I do adore the actress, however, she seems incredible sweet and gorgeous.

Vanessa is so annoying because she’s a hypocrite. She makes herself out to be this morally upright person who’s above everyone else but she is just like them (Chuck and Blair, etc)…she’s probably even worse. She doles out advice as if she knows exactly what’s going on even if she doesn’t, and she can’t just trust people (like not trusting Blair to help Nate, so she informs the Duke Beaton of the affair in Season 2), easily influenced by what she sees instead of finding out the truth. She’s also as vindictive like Blair and Chuck. She stole Nate’s letter to Jenny.

She always needs to get into the middle of things…between Dan and Serena, Nate and Jenny, Chuck and Blair. She hates the people in Blair’s world, but she never really misses an opportunity to go to their parties and hang out with them, can she? Instead of saying “No, I don’t wanna see those people, I don’t like them.”, she still goes. Her attitude as the season goes has become jealous and scheming.

Her brand of bitchiness is more crass than Blair’s, it’s not entertaining. Like humiliating Blair over the NYU Toast.

Also, her voice is gravelly like a smoker’s voice and so monotone. It’s annoying.
