Why are they RUINING Blair’s character?!

Hey people,

Okay, so are they TRYING to make us hate Blair? According to this promo:

UGH. THESE are the friends she wants to have? Uppity little bitches? I mean, Blair was awesome the way she was in season 1 but now they’re going overboard with the whole elitist, aristocratic, bourgeoisie thing. There is nothing wrong with NYU or scholarship or postwar buildings and there certainly isn’t anything wrong with falafel. Suck it up, minions.

Am I overreacting? Do you guys agree? Are they ruining Blair’s character?

I kind of feel bad for her. She wants so much to run with the crowd she’s comfortable with and she doesn’t fit in at NYU. I feel she just said that out of desperation to feel close to the Columbia girls.

If anything they have toned her personality down. I agree with camille. She is used to being a big fish in a small pond. Now she is just trying to figure out where she fits in. She has always been bitchy and snotty. That’s why we love her.

Nah that’s how Blair is. She doesn’t fit in at all at NYU and has no friends. She can relate to these minions, therefore she wants to transfer.

That’s just how Blair is, if she settled for any less she wouldn’t be Blair Waldorf.
Watch season 1 & 2 again and you’ll realise they aren’t ruining her they are simply following through with her character.

See, I agree that they’re following through, candice. But like, they’re doing the same thing with Blair and Serena. Both the girls are showing no growth in personality. For example, Jenny and Nate are evolving. Dan and Vanessa seem to be having their own personal 2-people storyline so you can’t really tell but B and S still seem to be living in high school mindsets.

Even Chuck showed growth. (Mind you, I don’t necessarily mean positive growth).

You know? Okay for example, you know how she was totally snotty to Vanessa in season 2? It was hilarious! In season 3, the episode where she shouted at her about her not being part of the elite or the “upper crust” was just in bad taste. The writers are taking way too many liberties.

I’m going to do one on Serena next. They’re totally screwing her character too. Like, wtf is she doing? Is she going to college? Is she working? Is she freeloading? Where is she living? Why does she only swoop in to hang out with Nate or Blair or find her daddy?

AND why can’t they show the characters at COLLEGE a little more?!

I think pretty much all characters have changed for the worse in season 3…but Blair is kind of annoying lately, yes. In the first part of season 3 she was whiny and self-absorbed, then she became best-girlfriend-ever, now she is just kinda screwed up.
But like I said, the others aren’t better. Except maybe Dan, he kinda stayed the same, but I never liked him so I don’t care about that.

Jenny: went from bitchy to downright psychopathic
Serena: went from sort of slutty to sleeping with a married man
Nate: is more boring and dumb (hello, Jenny wants you??) than ever
Chuck: I don’t even know what the writers were thinking.
Vanessa: …yeah, I don’t think the writers really care about her character.

As Arushi said, I don’t hate the characters or anything I’m just mad at the writers for not being better.

although i really don’t agree about jenny.
anyways. they made serena even worse than before. dan and vanessa are just plain boring. and i’m happy that they are finally together so there is no dan/serena nate/vanessa drama. i hate how nate is with serena. their relationship is over-the-edge-boring. really? nate could be so much more without serena. if he and jenny would become a couple i think it would be fun because they got a lot of chemnistry and they could make eachother better. i don’t think blair is actually annoying. she needs to do something again since she and chuck broke up. and i think she is somehow becoming the old blair again in a pathetic way. just because she broke up with chuck of corse. and chuck. oh gosh chuck, what have they done to you? but somehow it’s good to see the old chuck again. what would gossip girl be without stuff like that? we all love it, don’t we?

eww i would stop watching GG if Nate and Jenny got together! Jenny looks like a crack head with her heavy make up on her pale skin and shes so effin youngg! She’s trying too hard to win him over and she just looks stupid! her character in this season is stupid. Serena just keeps jumping from guy to guy and its annoying already. Blair is becoming too high-class for me; she was not that EXTREME in the past seasons. In the case of Chuck, she needs to step her game up; I know she can do so much more evil things than a bachelor party to make chuck upset.

The only good thing in that show is Gossip Girl herself.<3
This season isn't going good at all; hope next season is better!

wow. you’re so positive. nate and jenny would be amazing. jenny is gorgous and really not to young. 2 years? really? i don’t think that’s too young at all. serena sucks all the way! blair is cool to me. she needs to distract herself because she lost chuck. and i don’t want them to fight.. i want them to work it out. like in today’s episode. it was really cute what he did for her. To be honest, I think this is really Blair. I mean she has no friends at NYU. I agree that Blair’s character was developing and becoming more mature in the first half of season three but that was because she had Chuck. Now she’s lot Chuck, she has nothing and she’s becoming what she was like before she had him. Before Blair was with Chuck she was the Queen of her school and her minions followed her every word. When Blair fell for Chuck, she basically lost being Queen but it was okay because she had him. Now she’s lost him she wants to get back what she had before him to show that she doesn’t need him. Remember that poster the CW put op with a picture of Blair saying ‘The *itch is back’? She’s becoming her own person again like in season 1 instead of being attached to Chuck. And I mean seriously, no mater how much Blair’s character is developing anyway, did you ever really think she’d be okay with falafel or postwar buildings?

I agree but I just always thought that she behaved like a bitch because of her insecurities. Now, shes in college. You can never be “queen” in college. Not even in Columbia. She can never be Queen B again. And I just wished that she’d see that.

I get where you’re coming from…But I guess they’re trying to bring back the old Blair but just aren’t doing the best job!…But I don’t agree with saying she can’t be Queen anymore, she can but in a different way…As in her parties are where everyone wants to be, she’s the one people want to be like and people want to hang out at the same placs she does! It still happens in College, just on a smaller scale than High School!…BTW Falafel is not good enough for Blair because it is known as something that you buy from a cart on the streets from sketchy-looking people! Does that sound like something Blair would do? No, because she would go to a restaurant and sit to eat…The post-war comment was hilarious! Basically it has no history or class so she won’t live in it! LOL! xoxo

You can be the It Girl of the town, or of the area but in a school as massive as Columbia, half the kids don’t even know other kids who aren’t in the same classes as them! So she might be the queen of like, 4 or 5 girls but that’s as much as she can hope for. I just wish they make her realize that or it’ll be real tough for her.

Yeah, I get that…What I mean is that she wants people to know of her…Which isn’t impossible…Clearly not everyone will, she just wants her status back…I guess the problem is that she’s going the wrong way about it…She can’t have that in a College…She should some kinda High Society Club! They should totally do that so that it shows that she understands that she won’t get the exact same thing in College…But I don’t think they’ve completely ruined her character, it actually doesn’t show that much! Some people just pay a bit too much attention to exactly what she’s doing with a magnifying glass or something! LOL!I have this feeling she knows but just won’t give up! Hahaha! xoxo
